There’s so much happening at an event that it’s impossible to experience all of it at once. That’s part of what I love about photographing them. While everyone is watching what’s happening in front of them, I’m also paying attention to the reactions in the crowd, the details in a costume, the people behind the scenes and everything happening just outside of the main event. I want the photos I take to feel like being there, while also showing you a few things you may have missed.

My camera has taken me into some pretty different places. Concert pits, conventions, crowded events and across the world while traveling. I genuinely enjoy figuring out how to photograph each one. Sometimes that means catching something that happens in a split second, and sometimes it means slowing down enough to notice what’s around me. Either way, I want to come home with photos that make someone wish they had been there.

Photography started for me while working with children experiencing foster care. I wanted them to have photos of the things they deserved to remember. Graduations, prom, adoptions, and all the good things in between. Seeing how excited they were to have photos of themselves stuck with me, and eventually, something I was doing for them turned into something I really loved doing too.


Since then, I’ve taken my camera just about everywhere I can. I’ve photographed weddings, concerts, conventions, festivals, and brought it along while traveling to some of my favorite places in the world. Somewhere along the way, I realized how much I enjoy photographing places where there’s always something happening. I like being able to wander, take everything in, and catch things as I find them.


You’ll probably find me somewhere in the crowd with a coffee nearby, waiting for something interesting to happen. I’m just as excited about a huge performance as I am about the person laughing in the audience or a tiny detail someone put way too much time into for it to go unnoticed.


I want my photos to be fun to look through. I want someone who was there to say, “I remember that,” and someone who wasn’t to wish they had been.


Outside of photography, give me a mountain view, a good book, a plane ticket, way too much coffee, or an excuse to dress up for a Renaissance festival and I’m happy. Turns out carrying a camera around for all of it works out pretty well.
